Pagan Festival Shopping Update

Not much to say actually. I forgot that I _hadn't actually asked anyone_ what they wanted and so therefore I was bereft of ideas. I managed to get a couple of gifts but felt distinctly uncharitable in the process. The shopkeepers and assistants didn't generally react well to my request for something "very reasonably priced". It seemed to hit them like an insult. Well, I am sorry about that but in fact I don't want to be ripped off and yes I am a bit tight-fisted.

One of the great things about being married is that my wife does all of this. She loves it and is really good at remembering birthdays, even my relatives. She is also excellent at wrapping, which I am miserable at. So all I have to do is to remember to get her something.

I quite like wrapping. It looks crap but homely at the end of it, as though a not very bright child had made a really good effort on something he wanted to do well.

I'm not doing Christmas/New Year in a commercial sense at all this year. Zero. Zilch. Zero coming in and zero going out. After the madness has passed [after New Year] I'll get off my butt and visit circulate, if anyone has forgiven me by then. The problem is one girl. She loves this stuff. She's the most difficult to get out of it with.

Well good luck to you, James. If you've still any balls at the end of the season, you've done very well. I can three of at least two women who would make hairy cymbals out of my knackers if I took that view!
